These are my thoughts of Eboni 35 years young by Talibah Holliday class 1976’

The 35th Eboni reunion was truly a monumental event for all of us. A milestone in our lives we will eternally treasure. To see people, we love and still love unconditionally, etched an undying remembrance in our hearts. Hearing the unique tonality of each missed voice that personified their character, awoke a space in our quiescent souls that lingered on their every word. We immediately recognize the sunshine of their beautiful faces and let the initial moment of our all too long-awaited congregational bear hug, overfill us with nostalgia. The passion of each historic friendship emanating from our lips awoke sleeping memories that immediately recalled all of our crazy, zany as well as production social and academic exploits together – too copious to detail in just one conversation… each one leading to another and another and another… and on day 2 starting anew and continuing (not beginning) where we left off.

Each non-stop blast of hilarity, utter giddiness, body rocking, body rolling and folding over in a gut laughing trances – each one was being roasted and toasted by someone else and none could escape or deny the legendary chronicles being told about them, by not one but several people all at a time – each putting their own spin and recollection on the story – your story in a time capsule being unlocked and cajoled by your peers, your friends…your family. Tears rolling down cheeks and sparkles emanated from hearts. An era was on hold here. We were doing something very special with a massive collective of the most outstanding, talented, genuine, loving, progressive, supportive and special people we have ever met in our entire lives. We paused with each breath and let the aura of the occasion beam into and permeate our hearts.

It pulsed and pierced our souls, nurturing us with the goodness that was our very own life experience and special privilege. It was the double honor of being both a member of the family of EBONI and the alumni of innovative and illustrious Emerson College. The evolutionary advancement of both has raptured us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We thank you We will never be the same. We will always love and support the compassionate spirit of Eboni that is embedded deep…So very deep within our kindred hearts.
